So I want this blog to be an account of travelling and not just every day life, however I thought I would post something a little shorter just to describe what happens between trips: how it feels being back in England, when/how I make my future plans and what I do in the meantime.
Starting with the trips I’ve booked: in the middle of December, Sam and I are going to Belgium for a few days. This is kind of a joint Christmas/4 year together celebrations/pre wedding celebration, kind of a trip and we’re hoping it will give us some down time. I am so excited to see Belgium again as I have only been once before and not for very long, and the fact that this time it’ll be in the winter makes everything all the more exciting (in my opinion anyway).
The next holiday that’s booked is for next June. Sam and I are going to Germany to celebrate both of our 21st birthdays (my birthday is 3 weeks prior to the trip but as usual, my birthday falls in the middle of exam season so we always have to go on Sam’s and just call it a joint thing, but honestly, it’ll be better weather and less stressful so I don’t mind at all). Neither of us have properly looked around Germany before, so this will give us a nice opportunity to go exploring. I am also hoping to learn some basic German before the trip (and for all you that know me well, you will know how exciting it is for me to have an excuse to try and learn the basics of another language) so it should be a load of fun!
Between the 2 holidays, Sam and I are also getting married. I know, I know, “married?! But you’re only 20?! You’re at university?! Are you sure?!” I literally have never been so sure about anything in my life, but thanks for checking up on me. I’m not spending this paragraph justifying ourselves either, I’m bringing it up because this is about travel and whenever there’s a wedding there’s also a… HONEYMOON! So yeah, after the wedding we’re reevaluating what money we have left over and are hopefully going to go to the states in the summer to see our friends and their families and then over to the mountains in Canada for some sort of a honeymoon. It’s a dream but, we’ll see if we can make it come true.
Another travel plan I might be putting in place is a weekend away for my hen party, so I guess if things come together I can put a post about that on here (and maybe one or two wedding pictures on there along with it).
Booking more trips to look forward to is my way of dealing with coming back down from being away. Don’t get me wrong, England can be beautiful and we have many people here that we love and care about, however, (and I bet many people can relate to this feeling in some kind of way or another,) the places we call home can also have bad memories and people who maybe don’t make us feel good or happy about life, so coming back and staying here for long periods of time is not something I always particularly look forward to. Lots of people deal with the stresses of daily life in different ways. I guess, my way is just getting myself out to different countries and experiencing different ways of life so that I can mould my future using what I like most about not just the society I was raised in, but all kinds of ways of living from all over the world.
That’s practically most of what I wanted to say in this post. To all the people asking about Japan, Sam and I have applied for our year abroad and should know more by the middle of December-ish so I will update you all about that if it is going ahead. If it doesn’t though, I guess I’ll be booking some other adventure away but, either way, I’ll let you know as soon as I know. As usual, I want to say how grateful I am for everyone who has read this post this far. Whether this is your first time reading, or if you never miss a post, I am grateful you care about my life and I hope you enjoyed the read! Until next time!
