Kyushu Travels: Part 1/8, Nagasaki

The students I teach were going to Okinawa, so Sam and I decided to make the most of the time I have off and to take our own vacation. Including the weekends, we have a really good amount of time, so we chose to go and explore Kyushu! This trip comprises of us visiting every prefecture in a big spiral formation, starting by flying into Nagasaki, then travelling to Saga, Fukuoka, Beppu in Oita, Miyazaki, Kagoshima and finally ending in Kumamoto before flying back to Tokyo from there.

From the title, you can see that this blog is supposed to be less of an overview those and more specifically about what we got up to in Nagasaki. I will try keep my stories brief and my photos plentiful.

We were very surprised that the runway you land on, when flying into Nagasaki, is basically in the water. Right until the last second, there isn’t any land below the plane, only water for miles, so that gave us an exhilarating rush immediately when entering this prefecture. Then, the airport limousine bus takes the most beautiful route from the waterfront to the mountains. I have to say, what a spectacular view. Nagasaki is incredible from the first moment you meet until the last. Stunning. No other words. Whilst there, we visited the Peace Memorial Park, the Atomic bomb museum as well as doing some generic exploring, shopping and eating. I took some photos, not as many as I would have liked to though. I hope you like them nonetheless.
